On July 20, 2017, Kate brought out another pair of Oscar de la Renta earrings.
From the website: “Make a subtle statement in our wear-with-everything button earrings. Crafted with striking gold-plated sun stars, this darling pair is set with lustrous Japanese resin pearls. They’re the perfect pairing to everything from classic knits to trendy dresses.”
These earrings are made of pewter, resin pearls, brass and steel.
They feature a center pearl surrounded by yellow gold plated spikes and small spokes, encircling the center pearl and created a sunray effect.
On July 19, 2017, Kate wore these red crystal bead earrings to a party in Germany.
From the website: “Simone Rocha’s red beaded drop earrings are a fresh, elegant way to wear colour. This Italian-made pair echoes prints seen in the AW17 runway collection and features tiers of faceted flowers that decrease in size as they fall from the lobe. Fasten them at the gold-tone metal post backs, styling them as a graceful complement to this season’s off-the-shoulder necklines.”
Tiny clusters of red beaded flowers climb down and form the length of the earring. A distinct red beaded flowers is centered as the post, attaching the earring to the earlobe.
On April 4, 2017, Kate donned a surprisingly whimsical choice of earrings for opening night of 42nd Street at the Drury Theatre.
From the company: ” according to our creative director, deborah lloyd, “tassels are the new bows.” and, in bright hues, the ultra-chic design elements are especially well-suited to jewelry. each of the earrings and pendants in our new pretty poms collection is made from colorful silk thread and glass beads, for a look that’s equal parts elegant and eye-catching.”
The earrings are made of silk tassels in crimson and tomato red hues, interspersed with gold plated rings to cinch the threads into tassel form.
The earrings are about 3.5 inches long. They are suspended from a French hook.
On October 14, 2016, Kate debuted these new button earrings.
From the website: “Gilded details nod to natural oysters and Art Deco discs in these show-stopping button earrings, accented with lustrous Swarovski crystal pearls in statement, sea-inspired design. Handcrafted in America from weightless gold-plated pewter, this simple silhouette incorporates just the right amount of elegance into any look.”
• 5/8” long x 5/8” wide
• Clip backs with comfort pads
• Pewter / crystal pearl / brass
• Nickel-free / lead-free / cadmium-free
I admit I didn’t quite catch the reference to pearls in oyster shells until I read the description. It’s a clever design consisting of a round pearl centered in a hammered metal setting.
The earring attaches to the lobe by a post. The base of the main component is slightly curved at the rim, echoing the natural curvature of an oyster shell.
I was surprised to see this necklace available on Ebay for just $45. It was $10 more than the original retail price, but still affordable for me.
The necklace is beautiful and very sparkly.
It is somewhat heavy and very much a statement piece. Some people feel that the necklace looked cheap on Kate when she wore it to the premiere of Mandela, but I think it is a very good example of how well made costume jewelry can be.
I am happy with my necklace and I think I will wear it to many events and parties.
