On February 18, 2018, we received confirmation that Kate’s statement emerald pendant earrings and bracelet are a part of a suite of jewels.
She wore this opulent necklace to the BAFTAs.
The necklace is made of white diamonds, yellow diamonds, and four prominent emerald stones, arranged in an almost circle at the center of the necklace and as a pendulum drop below the center. I suspect this piece is set in either platinum or white gold.
You can better see the yellow diamonds in the photo below.
The earrings are made of an emerald surrounded by white and *yellow diamonds in a square-cut setting. About three strands of white diamonds cascade down to the emerald pendant, creating a chandelier appearance. It looks like the two outer strands consist of small diamonds while the center strand features much larger diamonds. A post with a salient edge clips the earring on. The post is studded with white diamonds and appears to be an addition to the main component of the earring, probably added on after the pendant and strands were created.
It looks like all the diamonds are different shapes and sizes. I see baguettes, marquises, and round cut diamonds on this piece.
Like the bracelet, I believe this is set in either white gold or platinum.
On February 18, 2018, we learned that these earrings are detachable.
*With thanks to Joyce P. and Anna of MSO for pointing out that there are light yellow diamonds on these and the bracelet as well.
Widely believed to be part of a suite of jewels gifted to her when she got married, Kate debuted this stunning bracelet during the 2014 NYC trip. She paired it with her ink-blue Jenny Packham gown at the St. Andrews gala.
The bracelet is made of two rows of diamonds (white and yellow) strapped to a center stone consisting of a large emerald set in a square-cut diamond setting. I am assuming this has a foldover clasp. This could be set in either white gold or platinum.
Here it is on Kate.
I believe this is a wedding gift. It has a matching pair of earrings and it’s a very extravagant piece (Kate’s taste in jewelry is not extravagant). This has not been identified for a designer yet, but I have a feeling this could be from a Middle Eastern royal. It reminds me a lot of what Princess Diana received when she got married in 1981.
The center stone is a bright round emerald. Surrounding the emerald are 10 small round white diamonds, forming a halo setting. A single round diamond set in gold acts as the earring’s post. My best guess is these are set in white gold.
She wore them in November 2012 to the National History Museum Treasures Gallery opening.
In Canberra, Australia in 2014.
I wonder about the origin of these earrings. They look so similar to Diana’s sapphire and diamond earrings, I wondered at first if these belonged to her. But Diana owned only one pair of real emerald earrings, and it didn’t look like these.
