According to My Small Obsessions, this watch is no longer in production. It was worn by Kate since at least 2005 (while she was still dating William).
It’s a two toned (gold and silver) timepiece with Roman numerals on the watch face.
Here it is on Kate:
She always wears her watches on her left wrist.
She seems to rely more on her pricier Cartier watch now that she is a royal. This particular model is no longer available for sale, so I could not locate an exact price. Tissot watches for women are priced at around, $300-$400, so I imagine this watch costs around that amount.
I was especially looking forward to writing this post because I think a person’s selection of watch reveals a lot about their style.
According to Diana’s Jewels, Kate’s watch is 33mm (I had initially believed it might be 36mm).
From the website: “Floating like a balloon and as blue as the cabochon safely nestled in its side, the Ballon Bleu watch by Cartier adds a dash of elegance to male and female wrists alike. Roman numerals are guided on their path by a deep blue winding mechanism. With the convex curves of the case, guilloché dial, sword-shaped hands, and polished or satin-finish links of the bracelet…the Ballon Bleu watch by Cartier floats through the world of Cartier watchmaking.”
I think this watch really suits Kate. It has a sleek and contemporary design while being neither too masculine or too feminine (she’s not as devoted to fashion as other women, so it’s expected that her choice in a watch won’t be too delicate). It goes well with various outfits and wardrobe choices. I think the choice of cool steel gray is also nice because it suits her complexion and it looks very modern.
